Toque/Beanie & Cap Care Guide
Toque/Beanie & Cap Care Guide
Our toques/beanies and caps are embroidered, so a little gentle care keeps the stitching sharp and the shape true. Hats are not like shirts: skip the dryer and the heat.
Fun fact: toque or beanie? In Canada a knit winter hat is a toque (pronounced "took"). The word came into Canadian English from Canadian French tuque, and the knit caps themselves go back to the French-Canadian fur traders and settlers who wore them through the long, cold winters. Elsewhere, including most of the U.S., the same hat is a beanie. Same hat, different name. Both are right!
Cuffed Toques/Beanies (Acrylic)

- Spot clean first with a damp cloth and a drop of mild detergent
- For a full wash, hand wash in cold water, or machine wash cold on a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag
- Use mild detergent. No bleach and no fabric softener
- Press out water gently. Do not wring or twist
- Reshape and lay flat to dry, away from heat and direct sun
- No dryer, no iron. Heat can shrink and melt acrylic fibers
Organic Cotton Toque/Beanie

- Hand wash cold, or machine wash cold on a gentle cycle in a mesh bag
- Mild detergent only. No bleach
- Reshape and lay flat to dry. Cotton shrinks with heat, so skip the dryer
- Do not iron the embroidery. If needed, press from the inside on low heat over a towel
Cotton Caps (Classic Logo Cap and Fall 26 Logo Cap)

Fabric: 100% cotton, embroidered logo
- Do not machine wash or put in the dishwasher. It bends the bill and loosens the crown
- Spot clean with a soft cloth or soft brush, cool water and a little mild detergent. Dab, do not scrub
- For a deeper clean, hand wash in a sink of cool water, swish gently and rinse well
- Do not wring or twist. Blot with a clean towel
- Air dry on a rounded form such as a bowl or a ball so the crown keeps its shape. Keep out of direct sun and away from heat
- No bleach. No dryer. Do not iron the embroidery
- Store on a hook or shelf, not crushed under other items, and keep the bill unbent
Good to Know
- Test any cleaner on a hidden spot (inside the sweatband) first, especially on darker colors and red
- Wash dark and bright colors on their own, as the first washes can release dye
- Pull loose threads off the embroidery gently. Do not tug
